Requirements To Become A State Organization:

1. A State BCH organization must have at least two (2) chapters in the state with a minimum of 40 members per state and no less than 15 members in any one chapter. State BCH organizations have two (2) voting delegates on the BCHA National Board of Directors.

  1. A formal application to become a state organization must be submitted within two years of meeting eligibility requirements.

2. The formal application for membership in BCHA as a state BCH must include:

  2. A copy of your State BCH Constitution which must include the five (5) purposes of the Back Country Horsemen.

  3. A list of officers with addresses and telephone numbers

  4. A list of members with addresses.

  5. The name of your state organization MUST include the term "Back Country Horsemen". The use of the term "Association" as part of a state BCH organization IS NOT PERMITTED OR ACCEPTED as an appropriate name for a State organization of the BCHA.

  6. Forward with your application any dues that are required by the BCHA to: Back County Horsemen of America, P. O. Box 1367, Graham WA 98338.

Dues are calculated and paid based on State membership as of December 31st and are due and payable on that date. State organizations are to send their dues with their application. Those dues will be for the year in which they are paid.

3. Conditional acceptance as a State BCH organization may be granted prior to the National Board of Directors meeting if all requirements for State BCH membership are met as confirmed by the National Expansion Coordinator and the National Board Review Committee (Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, Past Chair and Expansion Coordinator). Conditional acceptance allows the newly organized State BCH organization to use the name of Back Country Horsemen, pursue the goals and objectives of BCH, and receive the support and guidance of BCH of America.

All BCH State membership applications must be approved by a two-third (2/3) vote of the National Board of Directors at their annual meeting.

BCHA feels that attendance at the National Board meetings is essential for state organizations. Every effort should be made to send a representative to the National Board meetings.
