Established in 1999, the Back Country Horsemen Education Foundation of America has received the IRS 501 (C) (3) recognition as a non-profit foundation. This structure allows the Foundation to receive grants and contributions from individuals and associations or corporations. In return, the donors may claim a tax deduction.
Our Articles of Incorporation state "The specific purpose of this corporation is to attain funding to promote education programs that benefit the horse and other stock users, and to promote cooperative interaction with other user groups regarding safety, care, and the protection of our backcountry resource. The Corporation will provide financial support for qualified programs that meet the Corporation's specific objectives and purposes in support of a wide range of public interests."
The Education Foundation hopes to provide support for the BCHA chapters or other user groups that have planned educational projects that include recreational stock use on public lands.
The overall objective of the Foundation is to coordinate and administer financial support to groups or individuals that submit applications for the grant/award program.
The grant/award program is designed to fund planned education projects. The education projects may be in the form of clinics, entry fees for education seminars, newsletters, etc. The focus of the Foundation is to benefit the recreational stock user by supporting projects that promote cooperative interaction with other user groups regarding the preservation of our back country resource.
Donations may be made with the "Donation Form".
Grant requests may be made with the "Grant/Award Form".
