GRAHAM, WA: Back Country Horsemen of America, a 16,000-member organization, announced the election of officers for the 2006-2007 year at its 2006 annual National Board Meeting in San Diego CA on April 239th. They are:

Ann Lange – Wilderness – Lake Isabella, CA

Michael Murphy, Ways & Means – Occidental CA
Mylon Filkins DVM, Affiliations/Partnerships – Bakersfield CA
Back Country Horsemen of America (BCHA), which has chapters in 20 states, works to keep trails open on public lands for recreational stock use (horses and mules); assists various government, state and private agencies in their maintenance and management of the trails; and educates others in low-impact use of the back country.
Toward these ends, BCHA reported a total contribution by its members of 165,100 volunteer hours in 2005, with an estimated value of over $3 million dollars.
The 2007 annual National Board Meeting is set for April 25-28 in Prescott, Arizona.
